Adverbs come in many categories. There are adverbs of time, frequency, duration, place, direction, manner, degree, attitude, and interrogative adverbs. Syntactic rules concerning adverbs are somewhat complicated. They can appear at the beginning of the sentence, at the end, right after or right before the verb, and occasionally in other positions.
Adverbs of manner or degree are subject to comparison like adjectives. Adverbs formed from adjectives have a -t or an -e ending in the positive, otherwise it is unmarked. The comparative ends in -are and the superlative in -ast. Some examples, also illustrating a few irregularities:
