The first skating championships were held in Southend, on the Southend Arena, on Feb. 12-13, 1881, organised by TGSC. Clubs from Southend (TGSC, SISC, SO), Canton (CSC), Wineland (WSC), Wickford (WAC), Blackford (BAC), Polonia (PA), Pilton (PSC), Stone (ACS), Nagnew (NAC) as well as Wrackford, Thane, Windesford, Weddlingsford, Oldford and Tawneford took part.

In 1883 the amateur and pro championships were split. The amateur championships were held in Southend, on the Southend Arena, arranged by the Southend Olympic club (SO) under good weather conditions, but ice a little rough after days of snow.

In 1888 the professional league is disbanded and there is only an amateur championship. The meet was held at Lundeby on the city fjord, arranged by M¾rkantilt Idr¾tslag. The weather was cloudy and with a bit of wind, the ice fine. Several of the participants are former pros who were offered to have their amateur status back.

The 1893 championships were meant to be held on the Puddle at Wineland, organised by the Wineland Skatic Club on Feb. 18-19, but the lake had no ice at the time and the meet had to be cancelled.

1894

The 1894 championships were meant to be held in the Luritan Strait at Jurian again, but the ice was unsuitable at the planned dates of Jan. 27-28, and the meet was first postponed then cancelled as the conditions did not improve sufficiently.

1895

An All-Urianian Skating Championship with metric distances was long in the coming, but finally at Canton on the traditional venue Sallow Lake it came to be on Jan. 20-21 1895, organised by the Canton Skating Club. The conditions were variable with strong wind and snow on the Saturday, and squalls of sleet on Sunday.

The 1897 figure skating championships were held on Feb. 6-7 at Uria for the first time, on the Uria river by UriaomrŒdets Idr¾tsorganisation (UOIO). The conditions were snowy, but the ice hard and skatable.

The speed races were arranged by SO at Southend Arena on Feb. 27-28. The conditions were around the freezing points with some snows and a little wind.
